Can you say, "OUCH?"

Really? Can one more thing happen to Luke's face?
I mean really.
We went all day Sunday without any accidents until it was about time to leave and all I hear was Luke crying as if he just got punched.
NO. Liv did not punch Luke.
It was a BEE!
Note: Don't let your kids eat suckers outside when bees are present!
It stung him right on the corner of his lip!
Poor baby!!!

After Luke's Pulpotomy

Today we had a dentist appointment for Luke at 11:30 which meant:

1. Call Grandma Nette.

2. Jump in the shower and get ready.

3. Try to pick up the kitchen so Grandma Nette could see the counter and not make her think that everytime she comes over I have jobs waiting for her! (Thanks by the way) ;)

4. Throw a breakfast drink together so I didn't starve on the way there.

5. Get some toys together to keep Luke calm.

6. Try our best to get there on TIME!

Before we got there, we were supposed to give Luke some medicine, that the doctor called in, to help keep him calm and VERY relaxed.

This was the start of his sedation. I must say that I hate giving my kids things that are going to make them loopy and out of it. I don't like feeling this way and I definitely don't want to see my kids acting weird because of a drug.

Our trip to the dentist was about an hour away so by the time we got there he was beginning to be nice and relaxed.

Everything went well today.

Luke easily went back with the hygenists.

They bribed him by telling him they had a lot of neat games in the back and asked him if he wanted to see them.

Poor kid. I am sure they were telling the truth but he had no idea what was about to happen.

We tried prepping him but a 2 year old only gets so much.

I don't even like going to the dentist so I can't imagine my 2 year old is going to be happy to get a child's root canal called a Pulpotomy.

After a half hour or so, Luke came out to us with puffy cheeks and red, watery eyes. He walked right up to us and said, "Hey, they fixed my tooth."

I asked if he was freaking out and the hygenist said, "No, but he isn't very happy."

As long as I didn't hear him through it all I was ok.

Lynette watched Luke later today while Rog and I ran to the store and we came back to Lynette telling us that all Luke was saying was that the dentist was bad.

Lynette then talked to Luke and reassured him that the dentist was nice and helped him feel better.

I am guessing this was a bit traumatizing but am hoping the memory fades with time.

We have to go back in a few months so that the dentist can cap his teeth but the hardest part is over.

I took a couple videos of how Luke was acting after all of it.

We felt so bad but couldn't help laughing at him while he was making weird faces and comments.

I know. We are just horrible but what can I say?

We were nice enough and bought him a strawberry shake so that should make up for all of it right?

Rog and I were so happy to do that because that is exactly what both of our mom's did for us after our dentist visits. I think we were both excited to be able to start this tradition with our kids already.

The numbness has faded and Luke enjoyed the rest of his night eating and playing.

This has been another long day but hopefully the night will be peaceful and quiet.

It happened again.

What can I say?
I guess if it happens once then after a while, it will happen again right?
My mom always said that history will repeat itself and, in this case, it has!
I must say that when this happened again I was mad. I have no idea what I was mad about or at but maybe just because I knew that sooner or later it would happen yet again.
What you ask?
What am I rambling about?
Today.
Rog and I took the kids to Sam's to pick up a few household items.
In and out. That is all we were supposed to do.
We decided that since we took the kids to a store instead of a fun park or pool we would get them a nice drink and a pretzel when we were finished.
All of that took place when Rog decided that he was going to hurry up and run over to see if they had any sunglasses. (The story about that is later)
A few minutes later, we met him over there, he found glasses that he liked and were ready to buy them and head out of the store.
Not so fast because of course the glasses that we picked out did not have a price tag on them so we were trying to wait patiently.
Of course, when you are waiting patiently and have little ones with you, there are times when patience turns into a little bit of fun.
Luke and Liv were playing around while we were WAITING when Luke decided that he needed to spin.
One spin. One little spin and SPLAT he went on the floor.
Rog and I quickly popped up and all I could think of was, "oh please let it be a little cut on his mouth. Just not his teeth, PLEASE not his teeth."
Sure enough, Luke got up from the floor and on his bottom lip was a white speck of something.
"Oh please let that be a random piece of paper."
NOPE. It was his tooth.
His right front tooth was chipped about back in November and I always cring when I see him fall on the ground in fear of this happening again.
I took him to the dentist and they are sending us to a special place for kids because this time his nerve is exposed and they will have to do something other than file his tooth this time.
Oh Rog and I felt so bad today for our little guy.
I saw him pop in his paci for bed time tonight and after a suck or two he pulled it out and shut his eyes tight as if he were getting a brain freeze from a popsicle.
Last week, Rog and I were trying to prep Luke because we told him that we were going to throw his paci 'up the river' (thanks to the veggie tale movies where people go 'up the river' when they are going to die)but, for some reason hesitated on it. We may not need to now. Maybe this will allow Luke to not want it anymore??? (That is what we are hoping anyways.)
I asked Luke today if his teeth hurt and he quickly and calmly looked at me and said, "No. Just one." I felt so bad for him but had to laugh and give him a hug.

Someone always end up getting hurt.

Oh boy.
Well, the story goes like this.
Rog and I were watching tv while the kids were playing and after our show was over, I decided to go play a few minutes with Luke before bed.

Of course it couldn't be reading him a book or playing blocks or puzzles with him. Oh no. I had to get him hyper so that he would run around and act crazy.

So.
He ran at me.
I moved out of the way, thinking that he would run into the wall. Of course that didn't happen.
He fell smack down, hit his mouth on his paci, hit the floor and pop went his tooth. Well, not the whole tooth but part of it anyways.
I thought when I picked him up that he would be bleeding or something. What I didn't expect was part of his front tooth missing.
Oh boy.
Rog and I tried to look for it but we think he swallowed it. Great. Now I have to start a list for luke on things he has swallowed.

Now, a few posts ago when I was talking about Luke being like his cousin Cameron, I didn't mean that he had to be like him in EVERY way but, the more days go by and more and more he seems to be imitating him.

Now, thankfully it wasn't his whole tooth and he didn't seem to mind other than crying about his fat lip for about a minute and then rubbing his tongue along his tooth the rest of the night so we will see how everything goes in the days to come.

Goodness. If I had only let him run into me, I would still have a child with two full teeth in his mouth. You just don't realize how precious their teeth are until they go missing.

Sorry Luke.
