Grandma,
One day, not that long ago, I was thinking back on all of my memories of you.The more I thought about it, the longer my list became. The longer my list, the more exciting it was to think harder and harder until new memories popped in.
These are NOT in any specific order but just how they came to mind.
Are you ready?
First I must say your laugh always made me smile! It was always so contagious and always put a smile on my face.
Waiting anxiously and watching for your car to drive up in our drive way was always such a thrill! I always remember your car having a full back seat of hang up clothes as you and Grandpa were ready to spend an Easter with us at home.
I was just THRILLED the time you and Grandpa went to church with us and I specifically remember walking down the hall and making sure you were just right there behind me so I could show you our church.
.
I remember taking afternoon walks with you in your neighborhood.
We would walk out onto the driveway and you would quickly clip on your sun shades to your glasses so you were ready for our walk.
I remember the times we would go out to Chi-Chi's and Old Country Buffet for dinner.
I specifically remember a time playing Uno with you.
Right before bed we would get a late night snack of either vanilla ice cream or your fruit jello while watching an episode of the Waltons and sitting on your davenport.
I was ALWAYS thinking your davenport was the back outside porch instead of your couch.
I remember we would walk in your house and find out you made your all time famous cookies and you ALWAYS kept them safe for us until we arrived.
I remember waking up at your house and you would give me cheerios with a banana cut up.
To this day, eating cheerios and bananas makes me think of you.
I remember looking at your fridge to find the poochie (pink dog) puffy sticker that I mailed you in a letter and thinking how neat it was that you saved it.
I always thought that was so special!
I remember when you called your neighbor after finding out I took a collection of her pine cones to make sure it was okay.
Always smiled when you would not want any Kewpee of your own but didn’t mind a small taste of ours at the table.
I remember you always fixing chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes when we would visit
and never failing to save me some famous noodles to taste while they were drying.
How cool I thought it was after finding out that you and Grandpa were married and not telling anyone just so you two could be together.
My all time FAVORITE LOVE STORY!
Always remember walking into my moms room and realizing you were chatting with her on the phone. I would impatiently wait for my turn to talk to you.
Could not wait to sit at your mirror table and try out all of your colored beads and bracelets.
I remember the one time we had christmas at your house and all of us cousins broke your spare bed.
I definitely remember sitting by your hall closet and going through all of your wonderful toy treasures with my all time favorite being the big black rotary phone.
I would wait for you to be done getting ready for bed and come out of the bathroom so we could say goodnight to you.
We would wake up in the morning to donuts grandpa would get for us.
Always remember playing in your back yard.
Remember your 50th wedding anniversary.
Thinking of how blessed we were that God healed you from your long unknown sickness.
There was a time I was at a friends house and hid from her because I was crying. I missed you.
I was probably 6 or 7?
A small memory but one that is definitely there was sitting at your cool kitchen booth as a very young girl.
Did I mention your contagious laugh? I LOVED IT!
I realized that even though we lived so far and only saw you a couple times a year, I have so many great memories with you in them and it just showed me how treasured you are and how thankful I am to have you as a grandma!
I LOVE YOU!
We are TRULY BLESSED to have you!
