He did It!

OH I don't know how I could forget this one!
Last night, we got home from church and it was time for Luke to get ready for bed.
Rog was in the bathroom and Luke said, "peepee, on the potty", so of course, as every other time Luke says this we talk it up and act like it is the best thing in the world so that he will want to try it right? well. last night Rog went through the whole routine and Luke actually was successful this time! YEA!!! He did it! He went on the potty for the first time! Even this morning when he woke up that was the first thing he said only I think it was too late cause he had a full diaper. I still went through the whole process though.
Did he know what he was doing? I am not sure but he went and now I am afraid I am going to have to continue this process all the time.
Is he ready? not sure
Is his mommy ready? NOOOOO! I am not ready to rush him up my stairs every time he tells me he has to go,while I have a 9 month old scream for me as soon as I put her down.
I am not ready for the false alarms or the late responses at the store which will mean a change in wardrobe.
Do you know how easy it is for me to just change 2 diapers at one time?
But I guess we have to start sometime right? Why not now?
OH boy! He has transitioned at many other things pretty well so let's hope this is just another.

ok well. any tips on this would be great. For Luke and for me!

Ugh. I hated potty training, but I will say, it was much easier with Cameron (who I didn't 'push' like I did Colin). We mostly just talked about it, and when we knew he was going or was getting the need to go, we rushed him to the potty. It takes a while to click--and you have to take them EVERY TIME which gets really old really quick--but once it does click in their head, it's like magic. They start going all by themselves for the most part, and it's great!

One more tip--start adjusting NOW to the idea of taking him on a public potty, cause that's just gross and I still haven't gotten over the idea of it! Eww, eww. (I thought maybe if you started thinking about it now, it might be easier in a few months when you actually are having to do it!)

Hurray for LUKE!!! This is a great time to start....Jordan started this early and was fully potty trained by 2 1/2 years old. To me, boys are easy maybe b/c thats all I've known, ha ha---is he on a little potty chair or sitting on the big toilet? His bottom just seems so small like he'd fall in, its so nice when they can stand and be "tall enough" to go(grin). Don't worry Aimee, you can do it!!! If you give him lots of liquids take him every 15 minutes----even if he doesn't go---to get him used to feeling that "urge" --yes, you'll have some accidents, but its all worth it!!! Such an accomplishment and on to another NEW STAGE! Wow, he's getting so big...how was Sunday school =) keep meaning to ask you =)

That is so great. It's A LOT of work, but VERY, VERY worth it. Let me know if you have any questions. Not that I really know what I am doing, but you never know what might help.
