Sorry Dad.....

This story was probably one of Luke's sweetest moments.

I was resting on the couch, Rog was on the computer and Luke and Liv were upstairs just being kids.

They were just doing their thing when I happened to look up and see that they were walking out of our bedroom.
That usually means one thing.
They were getting into whatever was on top of our dresser.

Liv walked out with some change and Luke had Roger's sunglasses. I think I immediately said, "oh, no."

As soon as I did Luke fell and landed right on the glasses. All I did was hold my breath, and hope that everything was still in tact and not broken.

Well, apparently that was too much to hope for because Luke looked up, gathered the glasses in his hand and said, "Um Dad, I broke your glasses. Sorry Dad."

He then walked down the stairs and repeated that sentence for about 10 minutes.
"I'm sorry Dad, I - I - I broke your glasses Dad, Sorry Dad."

He truly felt sorry for breaking his Daddy's glasses. I think he was just shocked that his daddy's glasses were no longer usable.

So, what happened to Luke after this whole thing?

Not one single thing except to reassure him that it was OK and that he just needed to be careful with things.
Rog was so calm.

I guess it really shocked me because he wears his glasses all the time and now they were in about 5 pieces and he didn't seem to be upset.

I think after all that happened just a few days before really helped to realize what is important or not. Luke wasn't being defiant or disobedient, he was just being a kid, doing kid things and happened to have a kid accident.

They were, after all, just glasses.
After a few minutes Rog and Luke were trying to discover a few ways to wear the broken glasses.
I think the end result was just the garbage.

that's so funny. At least they weren't $100 glasses. That's exactly why I refuse to spend a lot on sunglasses. BTW I LOVE that picture of Livi in that blue dress with the matching hat (on your sidebar). What a doll.

Yeah, hardship and tragedy isn't fun, but it works quickly to bring what's important into crystal clear focus, doesn't it?

Really great post and really great pictures!
