Fun at the Zoo

Grandma Nette and Grandpa treated us to a day at the zoo! It was so rainy in the morning that I didn't think we would end up going but nothing stops when it comes to Luke seeing his Grandpa! One of our first stops was to the petting zoo. I didn't think Luke would do so well here but he probably liked it more than anything. We went into the goat area and I couldn't believe how close he went to the goats. He actually touched them. He was calling them cows until we realized he was done with the goats and wanted to go see the cows. I think I said 5 or so times that we were petting goats not cows. Silly mommy.

We stopped to look at the eagle but Luke wasn't all that interested. We told Roger to be careful cause Luke looked like he was going to fall asleep up there on his shoulders and we didn't want him to fall back and hit the ground.
Poor kid. All he wanted was a nap I think. Can't you tell? Grandma, Grandpa and Daddy were painting Luke's face and this kid loves his hair, face, and ears messed with so much that it almost knocked him out. As soon as they were finished, they put him in front of the mirror to let him see what was going on. I thought for sure that because of how tired he was that he would flip out but as soon as he recognized himself he was pretty impressed. The first thing he noticed was his nose.Soon after that it was as if you could see the window of nap time slip right passed him and his energy came bursting back into his system. Now on a normal day this would make me just about cry but today I almost wanted him to have energy so that he would enjoy the zoo. Here is Olivia spotting a bird! She tried just about whatever she could to get that bird in her fingers! Good thing the bird was in a cage or it would have been by by birdie. (Pretty Bird) On to the penguin house.

Luke thought this turtle was the neatest thing and he had to have daddy think so too. Luke loved the big fish tanks! He would follow the fish as far as he could or until he ran into another person or child.

Luke was really up close and personal with this fishy! I wanted to see what he would do. Sure enough he did just what I thought.

He became fish food. The last thing we ventured to see was the beautiful butterfly garden! I was just in awe at all of the different kinds of butterflies and flowers. Everything was just so beautiful!

One thing that struck me as funny was that some butterflies were landing on the path where we were supposed to walk and they would fly around and come right back to the same spot. The lady that worked there said that they were trying to show you that they wanted you to move. Some were territorial and liked to sun on the walkway. Mostly though they just wanted us out of their space.

One butterfly even landed on Roger. He was holding Liv at the time and when she spotted it, that poor butterfly almost became a yummy chew toy.On our venture back to the South gate Luke did whatever he could to get Grandma and Daddy to play this game the whole way back.
It was either because he loved this game or because his pants were full and he didn't like the feeling of walking with a loaded diaper. I pick the second reason but the picture shows the first. Thanks Grandma Nette and Gampa for taking us to the Zoo! We had so much fun and can't wait to do it again! I guess next time mommy and daddy can come again too.

That looks like you all had a really good time! Luke looks so cute with his little face painted. I love the pics of the butterflies! You know, as many times as we have gone there, we have never went in to the butterfly tent!

Glad you all got to enjoy the day together--are you planning on Tues?
